Made by hand in the Mixe region of Oaxaca from locally-sourced clay in the community of Santa María Tlahuitoltepec, this vessel has a carved snake that wraps around the top. Following in the Oaxacan tradition that dates back thousands of years, it is pit-fired, showing the natural markings created during the firing process - making it truly individual. This type of pottery is porous, and it will sweat if holding water for a long period of time.
