This hand colored engraving is from the book Boudoir Botany, published in 1847 by Harper & Brothers in New York, containing illustrations and descriptions of exotic flowers; wild flowers of America; and trees with fruits. The engravings are illustrated by Lewis and Brown, with this one depicts a Nymphaea Odorata - the sweet scented Water Lily, an emblem of eloquence. It is printed on a heavy weight paper and is framed in gold.
