This hand colored engraving is from the book Boudoir Botany, published in 1847 by Harper & Brothers in New York, containing illustrations and descriptions of exotic flowers; wild flowers of America; and trees with fruits. The engravings are illustrated by Lewis and Brown, with this one depicts a Bromelia Ananas - the Pineapple, an emblem of perfection. It is printed on a heavy weight paper and is framed in gold.
