KNEELAND CO. VISUAL+CULTURAL RESEARCH
Kneeland Co. collaborates with design-led brands, weaving together visual research and cultural insight to inform, inspire, and thoughtfully guide artistic direction. Shaped by client-led project needs, whether for a collection, concept, campaign, or broader creative objectives, this bespoke offering is designed to provide fresh perspective and a considered external point of view.
Rooted in beauty, emotion, and storytelling, the process is cultivated through Founder Joanna Williams’s curatorial expertise, extensive knowledge of textiles, and fluency in fashion, interiors, art + design, color, history, and contemporary culture. Research is built on over 30 years of collecting and cataloging imagery spanning books, magazines, paper goods, ephemera, and digital media as well as direct experience building and operating a global creative business that includes a leading Vintage Textile Archive. Both an inspiration and product development resource, the Archive supports creative teams worldwide and has helped to produce best-selling collections and brand collaborations.
Guided by human insight and refined through craft, Kneeland Co. connects ideas, materials, experiences, and histories, turning them into a lens through which brands of every scale can create work that feels meaningful, considered, and unmistakably alive.
Joanna Williams has been featured in publications such as T Magazine, Architectural Digest, Cabana Magazine, Elle Decor, and WSJ. Her most recent project included a curated shop and installation at the Dallas Contemporary Museum featuring established and emerging artists and designers. Through the Kneeland Co. Textile Archive she has developed an international client list that includes Dries Van Noten, Ulla Johnson, Pierre Frey, Isabel Marant, Sister Parish, Oscar de la Renta, Nike, Apple, Ralph Lauren, Erdem, Tesla, and more.
