Jean Baptiste Pillement Botanical Print No. 4
This collection of Jean-Baptiste Pillement prints date back to the 18th c. and feature his illustrations of romantic, otherworldly florals. This particular print was designed for the manufacture of fabrics of Persia. Pillement was a designer, illustrator, interior decorator, and printmaker known for his Rococo and chinoiserie style. He was a court painter to Marie Antoinette at Versailles, and interior decorator for the King of Poland (as stated in this print, “Painter of His Majesty The King of Poland). Jean-Baptiste Pillement’s designs were often used on wallpaper, textiles, porcelain and silver.
