Antique French Calligraphy Artwork No. 1
This extraordinary work of antique folk art combines scrollwork, calligraphy, and sponge printing. Made in 1780 in France by an untrained artist named Celina David, this work displays the skill used in creating 'Masjuscules', also known as capital letters and numbers. The ground is spongework and the dark blue is watercolor. Fine condition with slight tanning at the edges.
