From the estate of William Dailey is a first edition of Henri Cartier-Bresson's The Europeans. Illustrated with black and white photographic reproductions with cover design by Joan Miró. The Europeans "presents a dense portrait of a Europe where, ten years after the war, accumulated ruins as well as traces of hunger and misery on people's faced were still clearly visible." In the preface, nevertheless, Cartier-Bresson stated that "whether we are just passing or settled down in a particular place, one needs to be supported by a human community; living takes time and roots take shape slowly."

Kent-style bookplate browning from glue, small damage to top of backstrip, in original plastic jacket with paper linear notes (plastic jacket chipped at head of backstrip with tears and some loss to front, all within new heavy acetate cover), otherwise very good condition. Separate caption pamphlet laid in.
